We know that PC is beast as compare to laptops when it comes to gaming. The sheer power of PC and its graphics card can't be compared with even most potent laptops of today. So does it mean that laptop owners should sink in despair? Not really, recently Thunderbolt 3 has made it possible. 

 Thunderbolt 3 also known as (TB3) is Intel’s product and it has features like

  Supports high-speed external connection (input/output). 
Getting speeds up to a 40 gigabytes per second (Gbps) over a compatible USB-C port. 
For gaming which is resource intensive and GPU which it can establish the speedy connection between your laptop and your external graphics card to boost your gaming performance and experience as well.
Earlier attempts were made, and it was present in the form of graphics card docks, but they were highly overpriced and was dependant on proprietary connection technologies. Thunderbolt 3 has made it super easy that's why now several companies are offering TB3 base and supported graphics card docks, with its dedicated power supplies, ports, and slots for a graphics card.
But all is not well for now. As a new technology its still bit pricey and you’ll also need to have Thunderbolt 3-compatible USB-C port supported new Notebook. Some of the new laptop compatible with an external graphics card docks are. HP Spectrex360 and Dell XPS13.
  After getting the laptop, you will have to make the decision of which graphics card dock to purchase. Some of the major products are:

1. Razer Core and Core X

it was the first TB3 supported to make into the market. Apparently, it was designed for Razor Blade laptops but it is compatible with any TB3 system. Its price was also high costing 500$. Later it split into two Core V2 and Core X. 

2. Power Cooling Gaming Station

It was such a fancy box that sold for $450 earlier. Even though It ’s listed on PowerColor’s site, but it is difficult to get it. The newer box has a 550-watt power supply, ethernet, and it contains five USB 3.0 ports.

3. Akitio Node

It has all-in on external graphics card docks and offering three models:
The Node, Node Lite, and Node Pro. You can say that one setback is that, Akitio’s are not certified by Intel company as external graphics (eGFX) peripherals. In fact, they’re listed as general purpose PCIe boxes. 

 Original Node has a 400W power supply and costs $260. It does not have any extra ports like others for connecting peripherals. But the enclosure lower prices sibling does. Price of Node lite is around $200. It has a display port and extra TB3 port for peripherals but does not have any power supply. While Akitio Node pro costs around $340 and also has a display port, TB3 port and has a 500-watt power supply.
